IOPS In-Car PC Works While You Drive

Ever thought how much more interesting life would be if there were a whole lot more car accidents? Ever think to yourself, there’s just not enough traffic where I live? Well, think no more — SNT Korea will be unveiling a new gadget at the Cebit Trade Fair (which starts on March 15th) that will not only entertain drivers, it will also send them hurdling into the car in front of them. The thing practically sells itself.

Die stylishly with the IOPS in-car PC.

What’s the gadget? The IOPS in-car PC. That’s right, powered by Windows XP, the touchscreen PC will sit in your dashboard and act like a computer ought to act. It’ll be able to do everything from GPS navigation to stream live TV — which, according to the company, can then be recorded onto a built-in hard drive that can be transferred to a disc at your earliest convenience.

The gadget is going to have "broadband-like" speeds, and will also be able to work with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse so that users won’t only be driving a car, they’ll be driving a portable office too.

At what point does in-car gadgetry start getting in the way? Is it when you’re focusing more on writing an email than you are on driving that, at long last, companies will stop trying to outdo one another on who can kill you faster and in a more creative way? Why not just make a VodkaPC — a computer that not only runs Windows XP in your car, it’ll also drink you under the steering wheel.

The price for the new gadget has yet to be announced but we’ll keep you updated after Cebit with anymore details we can learn. In the meantime, start practicing your blind driving — you’ll be needing it when you’re late on that spreadsheet for work and you figure you’ll just do it on the freeway.
