In fact, it’s a little bit like being the head cheerleader — sure, it’s an honor, but why do all the other cheerleaders have to dress like you? Epson introduced its new Endeavor ST100 PC today, an ultra-compact desktop that will not only directly compete with the Mac mini — it also looks like its long-lost silvery white twin brother.

Intel’s Robson Technology To Speed Up Computer Start Time

Intel, a company known not only for its processing chips, but also for its recent love affair with Apple, is working out the kinks on a new technology called Robson, that is advertised to significantly cut down on computer startup times. Exciting news for anyone who has ever made an entire breakfast while waiting for their computer to start, the Robson technology uses NAND flash memory to, essentially, hold all the data you need to start up your OS. Meaning, if worked as advertised, booting up your computer could be as fast as 30 seconds — perfect for people who hate waiting as much as they hate anything that isn’t wireless.
Dell To Use AMD Chips, Intel Sobs Uncontrollably

Dell has announced plans to expand its use of AMD chips to now include Desktop PCs. The announcement ended an exclusive deal with Intel — a deal that had lasted for over 2 years, and has left Intel sobbing painfully in its room, wondering what went wrong.

A sign of times, that your old parrallel ATA / IDE drives are going out of fashion. Why should you care? Within a year or so, you’re not going to be able to use them on modern computers. So, start planning on migrating them to SATA drives.
