Green Cell Battery Could Charge All Phones

February 29, 2008

As our world slowly fills up with undestructable cell phone batteries, designers Theo Richardson, Charles Brill and Alex Williams of RBW have a simple but brilliant idea to clean up at least some of the pollution that’s turning our planet into a waste heap for the future.

What’s the idea? A safe, ecofriendly cell phone battery and charger that can be used for all models, across all companies.

How, you wonder, has no one thought of it? Probably because we hate nature.

Smart Target’s Kiddo Kidkeeper Keeps Kids On Leash

February 28, 2008

Ever dream of keeping your kid on a virtual leash? Well, dream no more. Smart Target’s Kiddo Kidkeeper Proximity alarm ensures that not only will your child never ever have the sweet taste of freedom, but that, if they will, you will be immediately alerted so you can bring them back into their cell. Where, undoubtedly, they belong.

Also, for a limited time only, the Kidkeeper Proximity will also shock your child into submission if he leaves the “protected” zone that you have made for them. Are you sold yet?

Samsung’s PAVV HDTV is 3D Ready, Has 1,000,000:1 Contrast Ratio

February 28, 2008

Samsung has announced that it will be releasing the world’s first Plasma HDTV with 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio — no, we’re not joking, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, which, if you’re counting, is enough contrast ratio to hollow our your eye sockets.

Excited?

The TV is also 3D-ready, that’s right — not HD-ready, but 3D-ready, meaning you can watch 3D movies or play 3D games with the dinky, silly, headache causing 3D glasses we all simultaneously love and hate — isn’t technology grand?

DORmino Powers Mouse Without Batteries

February 28, 2008

We’re big fans of eco-friendly, we love the way technology is shaping itself around the environment and, in the long-run, we think that it won’t only be helpful to our future populations but also, we just think that most eco-friendly gadgets are damn cool.

Which is why we love the DORmino concept — which makes it so you can use your wireless mouse without recharging it, using batteries or killing the environment. Interest appropriately piqued?

LG’s KF750 Touchscreen Phone Slides and Looks Sexy

February 27, 2008

It’s not news that LG is releasing a new line of sexy cell phones (yes, they’re all going to try to be ’iPhone killers’ — and no, probably none of them will succeed) called the KF line. While we’ll have to wait for next week’s CeBIT show to really get all the details, we have wrangled some for the KF750 — codenamed, “Libra.”

This is a good first step — as we fully support and celebrate Libras.

Playstation 3 Eye Camera Creates Mock-VR

February 27, 2008

Want virtual reality gaming? Well, thanks to Sony, the future is here. Or, will be soon. Maybe. But it looks promising…

Last week at GDC, Sony showed off the Playstation 3 Eye Camera — a device that lets the system follow the movement of your body. The hope is that the future of video gaming would look a lot like those arcade games with the sensor that let you physically move and dodge your opponents (we’ve spent a lot of money and a lot of time on those) — an idea that, we have to admit, sends our heart into joyful flutters.

Apple’s MacBook, MacBook Pro Get Updates

February 26, 2008

Apple has released new, more powerful versions of the MacBook Pro today, pumping up the strength of the processor and adding the MacBook Air’s trackpad — which allows users to perform various tasks with multi-touch gestures.

The regular Macbook has been upgraded as well — but with no multi-touch, saddening everyone who has wanted to open up a program by twisting their fingers in that one, special way.

PCCW - Incompetence all around

February 25, 2008

img41Just how incompetent can the major telcos get? We can understand that a small ISP might have misconfigured servers, or might have a sales staff that is too busy and overworked to respond the next day, but having live in Hong Kong and having suffered through some of their madness, I have to say, I’m disappointed by them.

There are three issues we’d like to highlight.

  • Scammy sales techniques
  • Poor sales service
  • Badly configured servers

Tunnel of Truth Concept Would Replace Airport Security, Probably Cause Cancer

February 22, 2008

One of the best ways to protect our airports, according to Transportation Security Laboratory Director Susan Hallowell, is by creating a “Tunnel of Truth” that would scan our bodies and our minds of ill goods and thoughts. And while the thought thing is probably not true, the eerily named Tunnel of Truth is — and its Susan Hallowell’s creepy brain child.

They don’t call her the Transportation Security Laboratory Director for nothing.

February 22, 2008

For a limited time only, the movie studio is allowing buyers to exchange their HD DVD titles for the same title in the Blu-ray format for $11.95 plus $.99 for shipping and handling — which also happens to be $13 more than you ever wanted to spend on a dead format.
