Nintendo Introduces New DS Lite
June 16, 2006
Nintendo, following in the path of such companies like Coors and Budweiser, has proudly announced the arrival of the updated version of the DS — the DS lite. iPod-white and Apple-futuristic, the DS Lite is a completely improvement of the original DS (released in October 2004) — and is guaranteed to get you drunk a whole lot slower.
So, what improvements has Nintendo made? You name them — they made them. The DS Lite, while staying with the same, innovative two-screen display design, is 20% lighter and two-thirds the size of the DS — easily fitting into your pocket, purse, or backpack with minimal awkwardness.
The Lite also has four brightness settings — all of which are brighter than the DS — and a much more powerful battery (on the lowest brightness setting, you can play the system for up to 19 hours.)
All in all, the Lite blows the original DS out of the proverbial water — it’s hipper, it’s smaller, it’s better, and it’s brighter. It’ll also cost you the exact same amount as the original DS — which is a great deal, considering just how much better it is.
