It\'s a frog, it\'s a plane, no, it\'s an LCD monitor that\'s so convincingly real that -- let\'s start over. The Acer AL1706AB 17\" LCD monitor is not only cheap and gorgeous, it\'s also good enough to be described with terrible Superman-related jokes. And that, dear reader, is good.
The 17\" inch LCD screen has a 1280 x 1024 resolution, is VGA compatible with an 8 ms response time, has a contrast ratio of 500:1 and 270 cd/m2 of brightness. Specifically designed to be bought on the cheap, the Acer makes a great mass-buy for offices, schools, and as a building block for some sort of house completely made out of LCD monitors.
Our only complaint is the screen. While LCD screens almost always provide brilliant image, this one is a little too small for our tastes. Consumers have become spoiled with monitors that are 19\" inches and up, and the 2\" inch drop is surprisingly noticeable. Still, while this may not serve as the best home monitor, it\'s absolutely great for a work computer -- as no one really cares about those.
