We feature some of the best selling LCD monitors in this section, in various sizes. In our opinion, LCD monitors have made tremendous progress in the last 18 months and can replace most CRT monitors -- except in special conditions. For this reason, we do not see the reason to continue maintaining our CRT reviews.

When buying an LCD monitor, the following basic features need to be looked at before making any purchasing decisions.

• LCD dot pitch size: This number basically represents the size of the LCD pixel and smaller the number, the better your monitor is likely to be. Look for numbers as close or below 0.3mm "dot pitch".
• LCD response time: If you're an avid gamer or like to watch a lot of movies (and we mean action flicks and not those slow moving images they show in TV showrooms) then you need to watch this number. The lower the number, the better the monitor.
• Brightness and Contrast Ratios: These numbers essentially benchmark how much you can control the brightness and contrast levels of the monitor.
• DVI / Analog Input: DVI is a new digital video interface which provides a much sharper picture over the conventional Analog interface. If your computer support a DVI output (or you have a set top box or DVD player with a DVI out) invest in a DVI capable monitor. It might even be worth spending a few dollars more to get a low to medium end DVI card for your desktop.
