Flash Drive Reviews

USB Flash drives are fairly common for transporting and backing up large amounts of data.

Available in a wide range of form-factors and a varying number of features, these devices essentially have 64MB-1GB+ of storage space and can be attached to a USB port. Windows XP will instantly recognise these drives.

Essential features of USB drives include the following:

Sturdy Casing: The casing should be able to handle shock and ideally also be water proof to prevent the beer that your drunk buddy just spilt, from messing the drive up.

Retractable USB Connector: The connector should be ideally retractable. This is a fragile part of the drive which is normally not protected by the case.

Encryption and Password Protection: Ideally the drive should have enhanced security features which encrypt all or parts of the drive. Also, access to the drive should be limited to users who know a password for extra security.

Some of these drives might need additional drivers, frequently found on the drive itself to activate special features like encryption and built in applications.
