The Samsung U740 Black Phone can be considered Samsung’s answer to Motorola’s RAZR or George Lucas’s Darth Vader. A slick, black phone with a slick, digital clock on the cover and a slew of slick features, the Samsung U740 is so hip that if the phone was a gunslinging cowboy, you’d probably be calling it Slick.

Packed with Bluetooth Wireless Technology, a 1.3 megapixel digital camera with a flash, auto-focus and a 10-step digital zoom — the cellphone doesn’t just have to be used for talking — it can be used as a full media center.

This is punctuated by the full QWERTY keyboard, the option to listen and download media using VCAST, and the directional navigation key that makes using the phone as easy as eating pie with a spork.

The question, of course, is about the price. Is the phone worth $399.99? Depends on how you look at it. The phone is useful and is packed to the brim with options — but options that most new phones have. It’s also roughly in the same price range as similar phones, but it’s definitely sexier than most — so, it depends. If you like your phones slicker than a freeway after a snowstorm — you’ll like the U740. If you’re looking for something simpler — you can definitely find something cheaper.
