Looking faintly like some sort of teleportation device, the Sharp R-408JW microwave oven is not only great at what it does, but also extremely nice to look at.
With 1,200 watts of cooking power, the microwave oven is loaded up with a variety of old and new features. It includes 18 automatic settings for reheating, cooking and defrosting, and new short cut options allowing users to not only burn things, but also to warm them up ever so slightly. Foods like chocolate, ice cream, and butter (because we all know trying to spread frozen butter is as fun as playing hockey with a migraine) can be warmed up and softened — an option we commend for being, while minor, extremely insightful.
Six cook options allow users to cook a variety of foods for up to six servings, while eight reheat options allow you to reheat previously mentioned foods. Finally, the four defrost options defrost the food by its weight — a useful feature shared in many of Sharp’s microwave ovens.
Slick, silver, and visually appealling, the R-408JW is also extremely fast. It’s “family-sized,” with a 1.6 cubic foot capacity — and shouldn’t take up a terrible amount of space.
We were hard-pressed to find any negatives with this oven — it’s simply one of the better, faster microwave ovens out for this price.
So, if you’re looking for a microwave oven that looks faintly like it came from the future, we definitely suggest the R-408JW.
