The Sony BRAVIA XBR KDL-52XBR4 is one of Sony’s top TVs — in fact, the XBR series is their flagship line, so you know that you’re not only getting top-notch video performance, you’re also getting a TV that probably half of Sony’s employees own.
The XBR KDL-52XBR4 LCD TV is a 1080p TV with the full 1920 x 1080 resolution and a slew of color correction and image enhancing features to make John Stamos even prettier.
The screen uses the most recent HDMI 1.3 interface and the Sony Bravia Enging Pro Full Digital Video Processor upconverts all video signals to 1080p, so all your old DVDs, while not looking quite HD, will look a whole lot better.
Sony also packs the screen with their Motionflow technology, which automatically adjusts and applies various processing for optimal motion reproduction. The TV even comes with three HDMI connections, so you can plug in your Blu-Ray and your HD DVD players and play them simultaneously (because, let’s face it, Toshiba isn’t giving up for another 40 years.)
All in all, the image on the KDL-52XBR4 is superb. Try watching HD DVDs of Planet Earth and prepare to be amazed — it’ll almost, almost feel like that beautiful endangered lion is mauling you and not the beautiful endangered antelope. The TV itself is also very slick aesthetically, giving your living room that, “I’m rich and watch Planet Earth DVDs”-look.
Pricey? Most definitely. More than worth its price? We’d say so.
