Toshiba HD-DVD Microsite and more

Toshiba in its effort to start promoting its line of HD-DVD players as soon as possible — to get the early to market advantage has announced that they will be aggressively touring over 40 cities across America to promote their new gear.
A part of the promotion is a new microsite which we suspect is here and hands on media and consumer demonstrations.
In other news, Toshiba is also admitting that their new players will need firmware upgrades at some point to support some of the newer features in the HD-DVD spec. Like all early to market consumer products we suspect that there will be a fair number of these upgrades which may require some amount of sophistication (unless toshiba sends out firmware DVDs every quarter…) on behalf of the consumer.
Overall, we’re excited to take a look at these products (which do look a bit 90s style ugly) but we will hold out on any purchases until we get to see what Sony has to offer .. or at the very least till 1.1 type firmware has been released.
