Vtech - Touch Tablet, The Laptop for Kids

January 31, 2008

VTech wants you to know that not only do they care about your kids, but they care about how well your kids mimick your almost clinical obsession with your laptop.

How?

By launching new laptops for kids that look and feel just like your laptops — except these laptops don’t have Excel.

img4The Touch Tablet has 125 educational arcade-style activities as well as a touch sensitive screen (does your laptop have that? We didn’t think so) which attaches to the laptop for two different ways to play.

The laptop helps your kids learn English, French, math, science and geography. It also comes with a touch pad, a light-up mouse and a voice recorder.

Made for kids ages 7 and up, the fake laptop can be linked to a real laptop (or any ol’ PC) to backup files, download additional activities and print out work.

The company, banking on the idea that kids absolutely love to pretend they work nearly non-stop in the dog-eat-dog world of business, will also launch a PDA for kids that looks faintly like a HTC device that will let them play games and practical skills — much like your PDA doesn’t.

Both models will be available this year at, we imagine, the VTech Kids Website and places like Toys R Us (who seem to have the exclusive for the Touch Tablet).
