Wifi-Enabled Coolpix S7c Released, Users Upload Happiness

Nikon has unveiled the newest member to its burgeoning family line — the Nikon Coolpix S7c — a camera capable of not only wirelessly uploading images but also making you look hipper than other people. The two-toned, silvery-black, 7 MP, $350 dollar camera includes an IEEE 802.11b/g chipset allowing users to upload images to the new Coolpix Connect service - a service Nikon launched along with the camera.

Besides the WiFi selling point, the S7c also includes a prism-folded Nikkor ED-branded 3x optical zoom lens, a huge 3.0″ LCD display, and 15 easy-to-use scene modes.
The camera also uses Apical Ltd.’s “D-Light” exposure correction technology, which is combined with an Indetix-made face-priority AF function, and an in-camera red-eye fix function to create the very best portrait pictures you could hope to get with a camera of this price.
Nikon also offers a new feature called, “Electronic Vibration Reduction” which, unlike true hardware image stabilization, compensates for poorly taken pictures after the exposure by using blur removal, increasing sensitivity, sharpening the image, and so on.
S7c includes 14MB of internal memory, USB and video output technology, and Nikon’s PictureProject software. The camera can save images on Secure Digital cards, and has a slew of other miscellaneous features like a movie mode and a built-in flash strobe (for the camera dance parties you’ve always tried to organize.)
The shiny new camera will ship to the US in September 2006, so watch the Nikon website, and mark the date of its release as the happiest day of your WiFi camera-taking life.

Everything is going wireless these days. It makes sense that digital cameras follow on.
